Stocks and shares ISAs are a tax-efficient way to put savings into a range of different investments. Anyone in the UK that is 18 or over can start saving into a stocks and shares ISA. Savings can be invested in government bonds and corporate bonds, open-ended investment companies (Oeics), investment trusts, and unit trusts. Holders of stocks and shares ISAs can receive tax-free dividend payments from their ISA. Though the age limit to start a stocks and shares ISA is higher than that of a cash ISA, parents and grandparents may invest in Junior ISAs on behalf of their children, or grandchildren. Junior ISAs are available as cash and stocks and shares ISAs also; but they can only be accessed by the child that they were opened for, once the child is at least 18 years’ old. There is a broad choice of stocks and shares ISAs on the market. Choosing the right one, does depend heavily on what suits your lifestyle and future life-stage choices.
